Yes, a 5 gallon is a bit to small for convicts. a 10 or even better a 15 would be a really good size.

Two convict need at least a 10 gallon tank preferably a 20.Some cichlids need 50 gallons but not convicts.

i thought that cichlids were mouth brooders? anyways you need at least a 10 gallon for the babies. We had 8 of them in a five gallon and they all fought and ate each other lol. We always recommend a 20 gallon but a ten might do fine depending on how many fish she has.

WAY WAY WAY TO SMALL are you joking they need atleast 50 gallons. I would suggest moving your other fish to the smaller tank so as not to agitate the cichlids. if you agitate them they will brake up and not lay eggs anymore. make sure you dont touch the eggs until after they have hatched.
