My sister and I were arguing the other day over Selena Kyle's' [Catwomans'] ethnicity. I argued that she was Hispanic while my sister said that the very first Catwoman was black.

I looked on Wikipedia and it seems that she's actually white. I know that the back story and overall information of a comic book character can change depending on the comic book plot and current writer, but does anybody know her ethnicity for sure?

I am 100% sure she is white and 99% she is Italian, at least in the whole Long Halloween, Dark Victory, and Catwoman: When in Rome trilogy. (all worth reading by the way). The only time I can think of catwoman being black was in that terrible, terrible movie with Haley (or however she spells it) Berry movie.

Selina Kyle has always been caucasian. You might possibly be thinking of another character who resembles her visually, Black Venus. She was one of the earliest female characters in comics, and you can find out more about her on Toonopedia. Hope this is what you need.
