No. She will get teased as Chanda - lier. Choose a name that will look good on a college or job application. Don't make one up or use weird spelling. It will only cause problems for the child. One day she will be an adult. Keep that in mind.

I work with a lady named Chanda!!( it's pronounced Shonda) but however you choose to pronounce it is up to you! I find nothing wrong with it. It's not too common, or over used! I say go for it!!

It's not really my style, but how about:

Chantel/Chantal: "Shon-tell"
Chantilly- "Shon-tilly"
Channa- "Chann-uh" Like the CH in Charlie
Charlize- nn Char or Charlie
Charlotte- nn Char or Charlie

It could become Chunder in the playground! i don't know if you use this term, but in Australia, it is a violent vomit, usually associated with alcohol! Sorry!

I'm not wild about it, but if you do use the name, I would spell it Shanda because no one will know how to spell or pronounce it otherwise.

It should work as long as your last name isn't Leer. :) I agree that it should be spelled Shanda, otherwise people will mispell or mispronounce it.
