It has a lot to do with hip hop because of the words that are used in it. Imus used words that are in many hip hop songs.

The comments were wrong. African Americans have had to endure some terrible things and they still do to this day. And Imus most likely did deserve to lose his job. Those athletes absolutely did not deserve to be treated in that manner. Furthermore, the athletes were gracious enough to meet with him and forgive him. Many of us have jobs where we'd be sent up the creek with out a paddle for doing something like that.

But what many of us dislike is the hypocrisy. Why can African Americans use the same language that Imus used with impunity? Why can rappers make lots of money off these words - yet the old white guy will lose his job? Heaven forbid a white child from saying the "n" word in a school yard - yet all his black playmates might be all calling themselves that.

If no one can say the words - fine. If some people can say the words - but others can't - not fine.

Anyway, I bet you Imus will be on satellite radio soon enough. I never listened to him before and I most likely never will. But he is too famous now to just go away.

Well if Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are going to crucify Imus for what he said even after apologizing because it was so detrimental to children then the answer is ,YES.
Those 3 words are a drop in the bucket compared to Hip Hop lyrics but they were directly connected to them.
Guess what ye olde double standard ain't gonna fly no more.
If he can't say it they can't sing it.
The black community opened a real can of worms when they DEMANDED he be fired. That changed everything.
They DEMANDED consequences.
Those consequences are going to be far reaching for some time to come.
And the Hip -Hop community is next in line in .
I don't think he should of been fired I feel they should of accepted his apology and allowed him to make good on it.

It has lots to do with hip hop deliberating the words which may well be used in it. Imus used words which could be in a lot of hip hop songs. The comments have been improper. African individuals have necessary to submit to 3 terrible concerns they generally in spite of the undeniable fact that do to this modern. And Imus honestly did ought to lose his activity. those athletes honestly did no longer ought to be dealt with in that technique. apart from, the athletes have been gracious sufficient to fulfill with him and forgive him. many human beings have jobs wherein we could be sent up the creek and not utilising a paddle for doing some element like that. yet what many human beings dislike is the hypocrisy. Why can African individuals use the comparable language that Imus used with impunity? Why can rappers make a superb form of money off those words - however the classic white guy will lose his activity? Heaven forbid a white toddler from announcing the "n" word in a instructions outdoor - yet all his black playmates perchance all calling themselves that. If no person can say the words - intense-high quality. If some human beings can say the words - in spite of the undeniable fact that others can no longer - now no longer intense-high quality. besides, i think you Imus will probable be on satellite tv for pc radio directly sufficient. I on no account listened to him formerly than and that i honestly on no account will. yet he's in simple terms too regular now to purely go away.

That's the double standard speaking. It's ok for one race to say something but not another race to say the same thing. It's ludicrous. Take Snoop Dog for example. He jumped on the Let's Fire Imus bandwagon for what he said, but how many times does Snoop say "ho" in his songs? So it's ok for him to say it but not Imus? Notice how Sharpton and Jackson aren't going after the black music industry for saying the same thing and far worse about women and whites. If Imus were black we never would have heard anything about his comments either. Sharpton and Jackson aren't trying to eradicate the use of such language, they're trying to govern what whites are allowed to say, while still leaving blacks free to express themselves any way they see fit. They have said far worse about whites than Imus has about blacks, and they have refused to apologize for any of it. So who's the better man?

its not don imus vs hip hop
its imus + hip hop vs just about everybody under the sun.

people who trying to put hip hop on the cross wit imus is dumb, they are donig it for 2 reasons.

1. they do not like hip hop and want to try to justify them being able to attack hip hop.

2. they feel some races can say things while others cant and is trying to turn hip hop into a unwilling matyr.

first of all, imus got the word hoes from pop culture not hip hop, here is where the word hoes came from
on the street people mostly people in black and urban communitys would refer to prostitues as hoes. when people become rappers they then refer back to the prostitues as hoes in their music. pop culture takes the word hoes from hip hop and popularizes it all over the world. don imus gets hoes from pop culture, says it on the radio and offends angry black people.
now hip hop could be partially to blame for giving the word hoes to pop culture which now abuses it like no tommorw, but it still isnt justification for putting hip hop on the cross too.

a lot of people use the excuse, rappers say these words all the time and nothing ever happened to them, for those people all they need to do is research 2 live crew vs Florida, 2pac v C Delores Tucker, N.W.A vs FBI and police, mothers against gangsta rap, women against derogotory rap and rock, GLADD vs Eminem and countless other ocasions were activist groups and even sometimes law enforcement would intervene and attack hip hop.

the only reason imus got fired is because he created bad publicity and his bosses do not want bad publicity, rappres and their records on the other hand dont usually give a ****. thats why rappres dont get dropped from record labels and Al dont try to get rappers dropped from record labels. And anyone who says nothing happens to rappers when they say "hoes" or "bitches" or things like that needs to do some research, because not only did rappers get attacked by activist and politicians and ****, but legal action was taken against them.

its sad though because 2 live crew were some of the first people to start the "fight for your right to free speech" and they won the case in supreme court and other artist like n.w.a and ice cube also paved the way and fought for the first amendment against assholes like al and jesse, bob does not see why people who support freedom of speech and are against hypocrits like jesse and al are going to attack the founders of fighting for your right of free speech. thats like attacking the ghetto version of mlk jr when you saying you support equal rights.

Uh yeah...What he said is in rap music lyrics all the time...If Imus is shafted, hardcore rap artists should get shafted from their label, too...

no people are making it bigger than it really is. i thought his comment was funny and thats coming from a black, intelligent woman. he shouldn't have censored himself because he knew he didn't have that backing like howard stern and other people on sirius or xm radio. who cares about the cryptkeeper! i feel musicians shouldn't respond to this mess!
