He had been suspended, but when the sponsorship withdrew, that is what sealed his fate. No Sponsor wants to be boycotted, no company wants to be thought of as being pro-racist. No company wants their stock to fall.

To some degree that is true. But radio and TV are businesses--that's the way they work. No sponsors, no money, no show. Bear in mind that a good many black people work for MSNBC and CBS, as well as for the sponsors (American Express is run by a black man); so they took offense at Imus's remarks too. I'm going to miss his show, and I think he got a raw deal because he's taking the fall for a lot of other entertainers and public figures, but I understand why it happened.

Did you ask what should be performed with jessee jackson at the same time as he suggested the "hymies" in the course of his presidential marketing campaign? Imus made a mistake yet when a black guy had made an identical fact no longer some thing ought to were suggested.free speach is in basic terms that free speach. If it really is okay for martin lawrence to flow off on white human beings and get in contact with us all kinds of names,i really imagine it really is humorous, yet do not persecute Imus and let others get by technique of with it.I agree turn off the radio or television.

I think that was the main reason he was fired but also because so many celebrities were saying that they'd never appear on his show again. Otherwise, I don't think CBS would have let him go because he was bringing in so much money. Maybe the others would have done it on moral grounds but not CBS.

Yeah that's what I think, before that,I heard that they weren't going to fire him because he made a public apology, but since his sponsors pulled out, the company stared loosing money, so they had to fire him.

Imus was fired because he said a horrible, racist, sexist thing that ultimately doomed him. He had a record of saying controversial things and this was the last straw. That is why his sponsers pulled out, but he wasn't fired just because of the sponsers.
