There's a big difference between a statesman and a politician. Bush is neither. He is a plunderer who has raped, sacked and pillaged this nation's coffers as well as the good graces of the Republican party that bought his greed-based platform hook line and sinker. A true leader of a pluralistic society would represent ALL of the people and defend the common ground, and would not be bought out for votes to intolerance groups who want to impose their pet set of sensibilities, religions, language, race and way of life on everyone else. That's called fascism and Bush really knows how to milk the fascist underbelly dregs of this nation for their votes. But, a true leader would work to empower ALL of the people, to build a strong, healthy society for ALL, and not tolerate the morbid paradigms of preying upon your neighbors for a buck to the benefit of an elite, a paradigm that rewards savagery rather than hope and prosperity for all of us.

An honest person with a strong moral sense of right and wrong. Of todays candidates it seems there are very few that meet that.
Of course I worry far less about who is in the WH than I do about the crooks with the checkbook in Congress. You see the person in the WH can do little irreparable harm, if they are really bad the will not get re-elected and if they do get re-elected most are worried about their legacy than trying to screw up the country. You should try it sometime, they are term limited, so no worries man.
The republic failed when the congress learned it could buy your vote with your money. So perhaps the citizenry who continue to re-elect crooks to Congress have been bought a paid for with our money.
I have been thinking for years on ways to fix the problems of today and always come back to term limits. I believe what we have today is a kleptocracy, with congress robbing us to pad their pockets and those of the Big Money that got them their first election.

First and foremost, he/she would admit that he/she knows nothing about whether or not there is anything beyond death, whether or not there is a Creator we have ever had contact with etc. etc. Spirituality is one thing, but religious dogma is a blatant sign of dishonesty because, inside, that person knows they are just as clueless as every other being who has ever lived.
If they cannot be honest on this most basic level, then it is quite possible that, in a twisted way, they have convinced themselves that pretending is a virtue, that snubbing reality is a virtue. And that is dangerous.

I don't like the fact that he stands by his core beliefs. I hate that he won't change. It would be great if he knew what he was doing. It would be great he was wise. I wish he would veto a pork spending bill. I wish he wasn't so obtuse. I think he would be cool to have a beer with and clown around. If only he would go off the wagon. If only he would change.

I believe that he is far more intelligent than he pretends to be. His accent and his inability to pronounce Nuclear is a total put on. I believe that he has achieve precisely what he wants to achieve despite the smokescreen rhetoric.
Just because he is far more intelligent and effective than he pretends to be does not mean that I like his politics. To me, his administration is hard to distinguish from the Nazi party.

I am not really impressed by anyone on either side right now. I do have to add thought that at least obama isn't stooping to the clinton level of politics.
