In the movie Double Jeopardy that was basically the scenario. Can you be charged with killing the same person twice? (the answer is yes, the movie got it wrong, by the way). If the authorities think that you are dead, then you have been considered to have been murdered, even if they cannot find the body. It used to be decades ago that if they couldn't find a body then no crime had been committed. That's changed, however. So, if the police think your body was washed out to sea or list in the Rocky Mountains, or whatever, then they might arrest or put under suspicion someone who 'did it' even though 'it' had never been done.

According to 17th century thought the image of your killer would be seared on to the back of tour eyes. So to solve your Murder all one would have to do is rip out your eyes and look at the image imprinted on them.

For some reason I am skeptical about this actually working.

do you mean seeing into the future and seeing it happen they the events leading up to your death lead you to your killer?. if not, there is a tv show about a cop who talks to murder victums. it's good. the only way to really solve your own murder is to leave as much evidence for the police as possible and hope they can figure out your clues

You'll just have to do like in the movies.. come back as a ghost and scare the crap out of some teenage girl, till she figures out who the murderer is.

Leave behind a clue before you are murdered. Keep your cell phone on, leave something of yours behind or on the person. Lots of ways.
