Sometimes stress or a medical condition can cause this. How young is the woman? If it is a young woman, I would really get it checked out. Especially if its not pregnancy or the use of birth control. If you can afford it then go to the doc, if not call a nurses line and see what they suggest. They may have a few more possible causes. I have included a few links...check them out and see if they provide some comfort.

Irregular menstruation can be caused by numerous things including stress, exercise or sexually transmitted disease. You should always see a Dr. if you are more than a few weeks late and the pregnancy test comes back negative.

Yes, sometimes women just miss their periods now and again. It's perfectly normal unless it's an ongoing thing, in which case the woman should see a doctor.

Yes, lots of things. However, if her period has been very regular and suddenly she doesn't have it, consider testing for pregnancy.

In my case, I was very regular for years and suddenly stopped. Turned out that significant weight gain or loss over a 2 month period can also interfere with your period.

Being underweight and being under a huge amount of stress would do it. Ironically, if a woman feared she was pregnant and was freaking out about it hugely, that could actually delay it.
