"is it somewhere on the floor"?NO.. i asked about 15 times until finally I asked "is it in any of my pockets?" it came out YES ..and I checked my jeans and there it was.!! Also, each time u do it it takes about 3 minutes to finally get ur answer. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to do anything like that with cards.??

"regular" cards are descended from tarot cards. you can get packs still today that have the knights as one of the face cards, plays merry hell in poker.

you can use anything for divination, mostly its just letting the subconscious do the thinking for you. Heck, when I lose my keys I just light a cigarette and follow the smoke to them.

It's called cartomancy, which is divination using cards whether they be tarot or playing cards.

The Fortune Teller, by Art Nouveau painter Mikhail Vrubel, depicting a cartomancerCartomancy is a form of fortune-telling or divination using a deck of cards. The practice of cartomancy has been observed since playing cards first came into use in Europe in the 14th century[1]. Practitioners of cartomancy are generally known as cartomancers, card readers or, simply, readers. Some practitioners have claimed that cartomancy's origins date back to ancient Egyptian times, the art being derived from wisdom given to the ancient Egyptians by the scribe-god Thoth, although this belief is by no means common today.

Cartomancy using standard playing cards was the most popular form of providing "fortune telling" card readings in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. In English-speaking countries, a standard deck of Anglo-American bridge/poker playing cards (i.e., 52-card, four suit set) can be used in the cartomancy reading. In France, the 32-card piquet playing card deck was, and still is, most typically used in cartomancy readings, while the 52-card deck was, and still is, also used for this purpose. (For a piquet deck, start with a 52-card deck and remove all of the 2s through the 6s. This leaves all of the 7s through the 10s, the face cards, and the aces.)

In recent years, however, the popularity of Tarot readings have diminished to a certain degree the popularity of the once-common cartomancy readings using standard playing cards.

According to some traditions, a deck that is used for cartomancy should not be used for any other purpose. Cartomancers generally feel that the deck should be treated as a tool and cared for accordingly. Some cartomancers also feel that the cards should never be touched by anyone other than their owner.

The link below will take you to wikipedia, which has more information. I also do cartomancy. The results can be quite interesting.

Divination can be done with almost anything.

The "regular" set of playing cards is the product of streamlining down from one of many older playing card decks; it is essentially the same as a Tarot deck with less detail. The simple yes/no questions can be done with a Tarot deck as well.

Divination can be a helpful tool for inspiration but it is only a tool. Do not depend on it to answer all your questions; you are always the best person for that.
YOU found what you were looking for, NOT the cards.

Cards are just a tool for divination, a channel for energies, so to say. When you use them, you show to the world that you are open to perception. You send a message, encoded in using a card deck, and receive an answer in the same code - in form of a card.
Though some tools, like runes, or Tarot cards, or i-ching are more popular and "respectable", anything can be a tool, if you feel like it. I, for example, use a book of Latin sayings, and it had never yet been wrong. A friend of mine uses standard cards, and it works nice, though this deck is used for playing (maybe it does work because there are so many energies and emotions of card players in them).

Hmm, that kinda sounds like tarot cards. How do you do it? And can you play games with those cards?

Playing cards were originally used FOR divination. The games came along later.

Now can you answer MY question? [in M&F]

No, I have never heard of it. I am glad it worked for you. Me, personally, I just ask God. I get the answer in my head pretty shortly. We all have our ways.....
