The car runs fine otherwise. .Is this normal.?

New car?

It's the exhaust manifold cooling down and shedding the outer layer of metal.
It's common, and not much of an issue and will stop doing it in a week or so.

What you are most likely hearing is the hot metal parts contracting as they begin to cool down

yes it is
the metal heats up and expands and when you shut off the cooling process starts which the crackling noise is from is the exhaust pipe or muffler or cat converter

it's called "heat sink" and is just metal contracting and expanding. It is perfectly normal and no, it won't go away. Most cars do it.
