Why in USA dont play much football?

It's growing, and a lot of people do play. For whatever reason, American football, baseball, and basketball are still far more popular.

Futbol is played among a lot of people, Its just not one of the sports powerhouses in the USA.
One is brought up watching or following either A.Football, Basketball,Baseball or Hockey...because that is what gets the most headlines and have the most traditions. ( Like Tailgate Parties before NFL Games..rivalries like the Yankees and RedSox in baseball...the chanting and geering )
In many other countries, Futbol is the main sport and along with that comes many traditions to the game and people dream to one day play professionally. The same dream is inspired here but by the other more dominant sports.
Futbol is slowly coming along since the 1994 world cup...(from the introduction of the MLS (which still is not as attractive) to televising games from Europe and S. America).
But aslong as the big bucks, larger fan base and the spotlight is still dominated by the MLB, NFL, NHL or NBA.....athletes inspire more to that then the MLS.
I am optimistic because the exposure of club futbol from other countries in the USA can inspire kids/teens to pursue a Futbol career.

That's not true at all. Only a small minority think that way. The number of people who hate soccer look bigger than the actual number because those who hate it, really let us know about it (loud minority if u will). Majority of the people here are just indifferent. A lot of them pay attention to soccer during the world cup but not many of them stick around and follow league soccer.

If we had one of the top soccer leagues most of them would be converted to regular fans, in my opinion. MLS just doesn't do it for them. Some of us hardcore fans are willing to support the league in the hopes that it will keep growing and become a top league someday (and because if we don't it will not survive), but the causal American fans are not that patient, nor they really care whether the league takes off or not. They have many other sports leagues to follow that are already massive.

So I guess MLS will have to start taking some risks sooner or later. Good thing, most of the teams have deep pocket owners and will have their own stadiums soon where they have the best chance of making it if they do decide to go big.

Im in UK but know for a fact that a lot of football (soccer) is played in USA, especially at high school and college level.

There are more people playing organized club football
(soccer) in the United States, than in any other country in the world.

When you think that the American people are originally from Europe and south America you think that football would be a major sport there , plus a lot of there nation with roots from the Caribbean and the west Indies you would think cricket would also be quite big state side as well!

Because the majority of the people here hate Football(soccer) and would much rather watch American Football and gay@ss Baseball. Anywayz i love Football(soccer) i couldnt stand not having it to watch,

Unfortunately the majority of us think that soccer is for *****'s...I don't agree with them. They don't realize the skill involved and think Amerincan Football is better just because it is mostly brute strength and what not. For basketball its just moving a ball with your hands through a net...soccer with hands and no real goalies. Baseball I do not really like however.

same as the uk where we don`t play much basketball or baseball it`s what we`ve been brought up with that we play the most.
