Thanks for your answers, what I really meant was that on websites that sell, let's say-chickens, they say they ship worldwide or something. If they ship without the person who's buying being on the plane, how does the buyer get the animal?

Animals can be shipped, it is a risky thing but it is possible. If it is on a plane, they put the animal, whether dog or cat, (you need special permits to ship large animals like horses) in a crate and put it in the storage in the back of the plane and when you land they take the pets out and put them on the round with your luggage. So there is possibility for your pet to be stolen. On a boat there is the storage area there where the same thing happens, except it is safer for your animal because there is less risk of your pet being stolen. By the way of harm, not much can happen, i mean they might get thrown around a little on a plane, and of course there is sea sickness with boats(even animals get sea sick) but harm isn't much of an issue to worry about, make sure that your pet isn't fearful of that kind of stuff before hand, or you can literaly scare them to death. I hope that helps, Kate

Hi -

I had two dogs shipped (brother and sister). Usually they go in an individual hard carried and get shipped with cargo. Since mine were small they let two share a cage which was much easier for the puppies and also for the airline.

The dog would be placed into an airline approved kennel crate. And shipped in the cargo hold of an airplane. You wouldn't want to ship during cold months.
