moving in our fifties is hard to contemplate, downsizing and all , wondering if we do this will we regret it?

only you can answer the question at hand. Consider all the space you have now and if your using it or are you heating and cooling a room just because its there. Realize there will be moments of regret (it happens) but most folks downsize once the kids are gone. Try to separate the empty nest syndrome and do we really want to go. Good luck.

Well you are still young enough to begin a new life. It truly will be new if you can get any of the childrens things left over to be gone to them or storage. I say go for it. There are some things you may miss but other things you will gain. It may be time for a change? I think too that it will give a different reference to the children, meaning that your identity will be more as a couple and less as running home to parents? Which, in my mind, forces more independence for them which is good.
