My thought on knowledge is that people learn while as a child through their parents and teachers. Its that learned knowledge that has been passed down from one generation to the next from one person to the next and then passed on to another. Its the Transfer of Knowledge from person to person.

Wisdom is the knowledge a person has gained as they have grown and experienced while living life. Its the knowledge that people acquire separate from their parents because they have not been able to for one reason or another inform, educate or teach. Its the knowledge one can only learn from doing and experiencing.

If knowledge and the gathering of information led to enlightenment then all scholars of the bible and prodigies of the education system would be considered wise. Alas there are so few wise men in this age that one can cite as the source of all sound judgment, knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom in the hands of fools and torment is not only wisdom squandered but devalued. Wisdom is the key to liberty, peace and enlightenment. Wisdom and Love are indeed rare and always have been. If all men gained the wisdom to silence and contentment we would gain Eden here on Earth thereby.

I have seen many who have gained a lot of knowledge through education but lack wisdom others learn from life experience. This can be exactly the opposite too.

I have seen many knowledgeable people who lack common sense. Then again many with common sense who lack knowledge.

I think wisdom and common sense go hand in hand.

I have to say knowledge and wisdom are opposites.

The more knowledge you acquire, the wiser you become.

The common mistake people make is that they think the wisest people are those who are distant from society, such as a monk living alone over a mountain, or a life-battered old lady with no knowledge of the modern world. While that may be true from time to time, it isn't completely true.

Everybody can be wise, and people will have a better chance of gaining more wisdom by learning more from different fields.

Kind of. I think wisdom is the application of knowledge. I can have knowledge but if I don't use the knowledge I have no wisdom. My best guess and I'm listening to the "Stones." Take answer with a grain of salt and have a good day.

They are actually different but not the opposites. Wisdom is more of your insight and something you can only improve through experiences and your own insights. Knowledge is more of material where you have to learn through outer environment. I think of knowledge as my transportation on my road to wisdom.

Knowledge is valued information and wisdom is knowing when and how much of that knowledge should be handed out.

Knoweldge does not equate to wisdom - they are neither the same nor opposite.
One can have a tremendous amount of knowledge, but if one does not analyze that knowledge to seek a depth of understanding that can be used to guide onesself, then one will not be wise.
Wisdom is assessing and analyzing the knowledge one has and applying the lessons learned to guide one's direction ni life.

Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life.

Knowledge is gaining information on something that you did not know. Wisdom is using good judgement, making sound choices (right) with the knowledge you have gained; whether you read or experienced something. We learn something new everyday.
