I have always wondered why they don't get tickets for doing that. It is considered littering, Is it not?

smoking used to be like free speech. Now smoking for health reasons is banned in apartments in some countries, it's banned in offices and federal buildings and some stores, and by gasoline tanks, etc. People these days are sensitive to the no smoking issue (because of allergies and cancer) so sometimes when you go to buy a car, house or product the person selling it will state that the item has not been around smokers.

There are bans against littering, and throwing cigarette butts out the car window is littering. I guess maybe your question is "how do we keep people from ignoring the law". That's a good question. Perhaps parents should be more responsible and halt their children from smoking (if they can).

Whatever, I mean we are treated like criminals everywhere else, why not in our own cars? I never throw the butts out the window, and it is wrong for you to cast that accusation on everyone in general. I'm sure you don't do anything that could turn anyone off. You must be from Cali. BTW, in the 15 years that I waited tables, I would always prefer the smoking section, the customers were so much nicer, laid back, they spent more money and tipped well above average.

Do you know how many people would have nick-fits that would lead to road rage if they banned smoking in cars, that's ridiculous anyway, it's my own personal property if I want to set it on fire I should be able to .... and I agree ashtrays were made for a reason

See, it's people like you, with your ignorant suggestions, that are going to be the cause of losing ALL our rights! You have got to understand that it's not about smoking outside or smoking in our cars, it's about our RIGHTS! They are taking them away every day and we just sit back and let them. People who talk on cell phones while they are driving are much worse than smokers who drive. Pick on them a while. And, FYI, I don't smoke, so don't think that's the reason I'm saying what I am!

I agree they should not throw butts out the window. But people should be allowed to smoke in their own cars.

That would be great! I despise being behind a driver who throws cigarette butts out the window, and it seems to happen often.

I think that smoking with children in your car should be made illegal. There is nothing more disgusting or negligent as that!!

Smoking should be illegal everywhere only because nicotine is so addictive and it's not fair.

Butts are not biodegradeable and tossing them anywhere is totally disgusting.

Smokers make me sick, but it's not fair because cigarette manufactureres know that the nicotine will hook them for life.
