omfg i don't know, my roommate put the toaster on the higghest setting and when I tried to make pop tarts it was like molten lava...i don't know it's the stupidest thing ever :)

I think its because you don't have to use your toaster just for fresh bread. If you toasting from frozen takes longer so you need a higher setting,likewise if you toasting wider things like crumpets or muffins. Just guessing though, ask my smoke alarm...

Love it!!! Too true. I seem to have toasters that only have those settings or ones that just make hot floppy bread. Isn't life so unfair?

i hate toasters last time i used one the bread got stuck an nearly set the toaster on firer

So you don't set it to that level and you keep an eye on what you are doing so it won't get so burnt to a crisp!
