They are not losing them. They have already been taken away. My parent's used the spanking method to get our attention. In private, in public, in church, etc. I am 71. Once was usually enough. You young parents should try spanking sometime. Where you can be seen. JAIL>>>> Parent now don't need to tell their kids how to dress, the schools do that for the parents. Parents now don't need to teach their children about the birds and bees, (sex ) the schools do that. Schools even tell your kids what to eat. When I was young the cop's either took you home and told your parents which law you had broken. Or wait until you thought you were safe and then tell your dad. A night in jail would have been better. Cop's don't do that anymore. Principals in my era paddled your butt and then told your parents, who in turn paddled your butt. Modern parents give birth, the schools and courts raise the little darlings.

Absolutely. Parents have been willing to let the government take over the upbringing of their children for some time so they don't have to make decisions. Curfew is a great example. It's widely accepted by parents that it's better for the government to decide when our kids should be home than parents making that decision and following through. It's been going on for a long time and will only get worse.

Yes and no, everyone always thinks they know what is best for you. I am a new mom and I was a social worker (several years back). Mass media has caused people to hear about someone abusing their children in another state that would not have made national news in the past. Everyone has an opinion on things that aren't their business (this has been since the beginning of time). I think the bigger problem is the lack of respect and control that teachers have and it's the parents who have taken it away from them.

Yes i absoutly think they do,T he kids think that they can take over whenever they want to, And it always ends up that the parents lose their rights to be a parent and to do the grown up thing and what has to be done, Is to stop the kids from trying to rule their parents, When kids should be kids, and not adults, Well not in my Family, When a child talks to me or tries to rule me in a matter, I tell him a thing or two, that iam the parent in this house and if you ever tell me what to do ill break you

First off, there are too many people out there who shouldn't be parents. Biologically they can do it, but intellectually they're morons (and that includes all of the group that call themselves "soccer moms").
Second, they are losing their rights, because too many liberals in the school systems of this country are trying to indoctrinate children in their social causes, no matter what the parents' belief systems are.

That is exactly what the enemy wants.
They take control and you cajole. You should just be one of the friends and you will keep getting the instructions from them on how to be a good parent.
The Stalanists and Nazi's already played this crap. It is used in Cuba. Try and try again. Maybe it will work this time.

I am a parent of 4. You asked what I think so here it is. This is all my opinion only.
I think way too many parents surrender parental rights.
I think parents that divorce surrender many rights as a parent. Rightfully so. Divorce is an indictment of a person's morality and judgment. They are breaking a pledge that they have made for a lifetime.
I think that unwed parents surrender rights because they have children without any agreement with their partner.
Parenting is a full time job that requires 2 people plus the support of their community.

No. The change is due to our society changing its collective opinion of what is appropriate when dealing with children.

YES. you can't even try to discipline your child now without the threat or worry about them or someone calling the police. i'm sorry, but i got spankings when i was a kid and it didn't scar me for life. i wasn't beaten but i knew to listen when i was told to do something. i think there's a diff. between beatings and spankings. i'll go to jail before i'll let someone tell me i can't discipline my child. i think that's one problem in today's society. NO DISCIPLINE OR RESPECT.
