It depends on what type of grass it is, but generally early spring to late summer is the best time to plant grass seed. I would suggest sometime in the spring, getting the seed down right before a big rain event is expected. You're supposed to keep the seeds moist for 48 hours so that the seed coats don't try out. Besides, nature provides better watering than we can.

The best time to seed is September/October. This gives the seed time to germinate (soil temp 60F) and grow before the winter hits. You can plant grass seed anytime now but it does the best in the fall

May, the first couple of weeks is perfect. You get allot of the spring rains to help you water.Make sure you use straw or grass matting on your sloped areas, you dont want your seed washing away.
