96 Grand Marquis or Crown Victoria owners, have you had the same problem with wet carpet/undelayment. I can't find where it might be getting in at. It seems to be more wet near the passenger foot well and absorbing back toward the driver side wheel well. Any hints?

sounds like the drain for the hvac box is clogged. it will be on the firewall. looks like a little rubber L. or the heater core could also be leaking.

Leaks in cars are a royal pain to find. It can come in at a window molding, and run down the inside of the frame and come out somewhere completely unrelated to where it entered. But if it's near the passenger wheel well, I'd check the door, windshield and the air intakes on the hood (fresh air), you a/c and heating duct system might have a leak.

Look for rusty water marks elsewhere, starting and the wet spots and following back. You might find rust, or even mildew. You'll probably have to pull some panels.

I had the same issue on an older Cutlass. Good luck, you'll need it.

Air conditioner condensation drip pan may have something plugging the drain hole...

If you have been running the A/C or defrost lately, this may be the cause.

Look near the passenger side on the firewall from under the hood. Do you see a small drip pan with standing water in it? If so, use a small screwdriver to carefully poke around in the bottom of it. If the drain is plugged, as soon as you clear the blockage, it should drain pretty quickly.

Other possibility is that you have a leaky heater core. Does the wet spot smell like antifreeze?

given the location, i will assume two things, 1) coolant level mysteriously drops and 2) when you turn on the defroster you get a sweet smell (like coolant),and the windshield keeps getting wet (inside). if these are true, i hate to say it but you have a ruptured heater core. a whole lot of fun.

I would say it's leaking from your windshield and running down behind the dash onto the floor.
