Short answer? COST. Dude the Wii is HALF THE PRICE of the PS3, and cheaper then even the 360. The other thing is that the Wii is slapped togther so they have HAD MORE UNITS TO SELL then the PS3. Even if EVERY PS3 had sold it still wouldn't have as many sold as the Wii. It isn't even a fair comparison here.
Would someone PLEASE tell me what Jose is smoking that he thinks the Wii graphics are "almost as good as the PS3". Nintendo fanboys UNITE right? First off the graphics of the Wii are at BEST PS2 level, see God of War 2 where they push the PS2 to it's limit and you will see that even the PS2 graphics can be pushed to be better then the Wii. Second if you are comparing them then I guess you are going by launch titles, and unlike the Wii the PS3 graphics WILL get better. Third the Wii has no HD graphics. You can say what you want about Standard Def, but compare them TRULY. Put the PS3 on the High Def and put a Wii on the Standard Def beside it. That way you are going with the best graphics they can get, then just TRY to honestly say the Wii graphics are ALMOST as good.

Xbox 360 has been out for 1 year and half so of course more units have been sold!!!! I would hope so.
If you compare the first three months of xbox 360 release(without any competing machines for sale at the same time) to the first 3 months of ps3 release with 2 huge competitors you'll see the ps3 out sold the xbox 360. So check the facts before leading people to believe this has been a race where all the competitors started at the same time.
THe wii has sold more due to price and availablity prior to the holidays.
The wii has a cult following and most xbox and ps3 owners also own the wii because it is priced in away that allows that option.
Xbox has no choice but to give a bigger hard to the elite. Xbox still puts games on dual sided dvds which only hold 8gig compared to blueray (which game makers are using now) which holds 50gig. meaning that in order to have the high graphics and large game maps etc... the gamemakers have to compress a large portion of the game onto to the xbox dvd disc so during installation they can be expanded onto the hard drive.
So xbox 360 still has some hardware upgrading to do even after the elite is released.. So again do some research before you assume or bash another system.....

Here's my opinion: You're a Wii fanboy.
Get your facts straight. Who said the 360 has outsold the PS3 in Japan? Just you. Only about 350,000 360 have been sold in Japan so far. How many PS3 have been sold in Japan? About 800,000. Last time I checked, 800,000 is bigger than 350,000.
If you've been paying attention, the PS3 in its first 5 months is doing better than the PS2 during it's first 5 months. There's also talk that there might be a 100 buck price drop later this year, just in time for the grade A games to arrive. The PS3 is going to have the most new games this year, so that's going to help boost its sales. People are not buying the PS3 because of the lack of games. Even hard core gamers aren't going to put up 600 bucks on a system that has very few good games. But wait until this holiday season when the PS3 start getting a lot more good games. The PS3 will be flying off the shelves.
Do you seriously think that the Wii has won this generations war? It's only been 5 months since the launch, and you're already declaring the Wii the winner? Think again. The war is a 4 or 5 year war, not 5 months. I wouldn't call the PS3 a failure just yet. You'd be surprised what Sony has hiding up its sleeve.

I own a PS3 and they only reason why I think the PS3 has not done as well as the Wii is because of the lack of impressive games at the PS3 launch and lack of good games right now. The only games that I have bought for the PS3 is Motorstorm and Resistance Fall of Man. When a few big games drop this summer, and in the fall such as GTA 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Lair, Warhawk, and The Getaway 3, business for the PS3 will pick up.
Most people probably think that they shouldn't buy a PS3 for the simple fact that they wont be using it as much as they would like too, because there isn't many good games out right now for the PS3. A lot of people also are probably waiting until the holiday season to pick up on a PS3 because they think that Sony will drop the price on the PS3, and I doubt that a price drop will ever happen until 2008 at least.
Don't count Sony out yet just because the PS3 isn't doing as good as everyone thought . Once the big Sony games come out, so will the dedicated Sony fans.

Well, the Wii and the 360 are cheaper, and offer some things that the PS3 has or maybe doesnt have. For example, the PS3's controller I heard doesnt have vibration, while the 360 has vibration. All of them have internet access. The PS3 doesnt have many good launch titles either, while the Wii and 360 had good ones. And the #1 reason is that the PS3 costs an arm, a leg, a head, an other leg, and the rest of your body. What I mean is, it costs a lot compared to the wii and 360.

The Wii is newer.. the PS3 is the same old stuff that everyone has been doing. With the Wii... you can sort of "be in the game" if you know what im saying... it has never been done before and people are into this new technology

The Wii has done an awesome job and the video games on the console are innovative and fun. The PS3 hasnt failed, its price is just high and people are waiting for the price to go down.

I believe the Wii has done so well, at least in the US, because it requires you to be a little more active to play it. This has grabbed the attention of exercising, being fit, etc etc. As for the PS3.. I think sony has had too many other problems not relating to the actual gaming console that has blemished their reputation. Examples would be the mass laptop battery recall for starting fires, or the overpriced flash memory etc etc. Sony just doesnt appeal to as many people anymore..

Because the PS3 clearly showed that Sony has become overconfident, almost to the point of arrogance. Nobody likes arrogant people. Long story short: Sony dug their own grave.
Heck, I even submitted a full-length report in Business class explaining why Sony is failing, and may not be around by the end of a whole decade from now. Primary reason: PS3 (and Sony arrogance).
I got an A+ on it.
