Well lots of things happened in the 40s, like the entering and ending of WWII, the beginning if the baby boom, and several social reforms.
If you are into war studies of both at home and abroad take this one.
In the sixties, there was far more than hippies and drugs and raves.
We entered into a space age, a president was shot, the civil rights movement was at its peak, the governent had an age of prospertity, the new generation was turning away from their parents' generation, we entered into another war, and much more!!
Choose the timeperiod that you think would have the greatest impast on your mind and those of your peers.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

The 60's. Civil rights, Vietnam, assassinations of John Kennedy and MLK, space program, cold war... the list goes on and on. Plus it should be easier to talk to people who actually lived through the 60's than the 40's to get their impressions of the decade.

Both decades are huge in our history here a few things to think about
40's end of the depression and world war I
rise and fall of Nazism, world war II...pearl harbor and all that
60's - vietnam...racial confict, Martin Luther King, JFK and the assination, ideas of the hippie movement and freedom.
My pesronal bias would be 40's.
