(x+2)^2 = 7
x = 02 +/-sqrt(7) = 0.6, -4.6 so (b)

Where's the trig. For this guy, recast in linear form, x^2 + 4x - 3 = 0. Then you have several options. You can complete the square noting that
x^2 +4x + 4 = (x+2)^2.
Then (x+2)^2 -7 = 0, and x+2 = +/- sqrt(7).
Since sqrt(7) = 2.64 or so, (b) looks like the best choice.

substitute the numbers and u will end up with -2 (+/-) √7

which equals the answers in b
