Did you buy the car new? If not look for an old alarm that may be still in the car. I had this issue with a car that I bought from a dealer and he didn't have the alarm pad.

Is the horn that is beeping the car horn or the alarm horn? I am taking it that it is the car horn going off on it's own at times. This is usually caused by a defective horn contact in the pad itself. The only way to fix it is to replace the pad itself. The pad is the thing you actually press on the steering wheel. These are made very cheaply and the temp. seems to affect them, so that is why the intermittent problem. Good luck.

The mechanic is almost correct and had the best answer ...the only problem is on your 2003 Grand Am the horn contact is part of the airbag in the steering wheel and you need to replace the airbag unit at a cost about $725 from the dealer which is stupid!

Its an electrical problem, maybe caused from an alarm. Find out if your car has had an aftermarket car alarm installed or if it has a factory unit. This is probably your best starting point, if you rule this out then it has to be an electrical problem, a certified mechanic should be your next choice.
