He shouldn't have been fired because what he said wasn't racist, it was just rude. If an african-american said it, everyone would laugh. That's a double standard. They suspended him for 2 weeks, and that was his punishment. Then CBS watched everybody else to see how they felt about it. When they saw everyone was really pissed, they jumped on the bandwagon and fired him after they already decided his punishment would be a 2 week suspension.

Pro: The country and CBS and MSNBC both demonstrated that racism is no longer acceptable or tolerated in the US media and in our culture at large.
Con: Firing talk show hosts for saying unpopular things dampens the open dialogue in this country and threatens free and open debate.

Pros: CBS and MSNBC keep their advertisers and their money
Can't think of any cons but I guess the 3 Imus fans must be down right now.

He shouldn't have been fired because, for one thing, it was one single comment, like that never happened with Howard Stern, who has been suspended but never fired? Also, he had been on that job for over 30 years with nothing to get him fired over. He also shouldn't have been fired because Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are 2 of the biggest racists in this country...They just hide behind an "activist" title...

Pro: No clue who the hell he was, so he won't be missed.
Con: It would have been funny said by anyone else. Too many double standards out there.

Pro: One more idiot off the air.
Con: Too much coverage about nothing. This whole incident really isn't even newsworthy.
