Look out for track days in your area. They should be advertised in magazines such as Max Power, Evo, Top Gear etc. These will almost definitely include "Run what ya brung" days where you can hammer your car around a track for a few laps during the day.
As long as you don't do what most boy racers seem to do, which is drive dead fast round our local ToysRus car park, while there are families wandering round, I think you'll be ok.

theres a place in salt lake city utah the salt flats, where all the land speed records are set, its good traction wide spaces and completly flat. if u live too far from there try just seeing ppl on the road w nice cars n rev ur engine its the universal sign that u want to race someone, just watch for the cops n have fun

that a bit far for him to go lol as hes in the UK not USA . There should be some tracks or clubs about , try a cruise site in your area , they might have track days etc.

Nurburgring. about €15 per lap, and they charge you extra for sweeping up the wreckage, blood,&c.
