I have tried very hard to think of one remake that I thought was better than the original and I honestly cannot think of one. I pictured the black and white movies and the actors and actresses of the day and how they made the movie come alive with their true acting abilty - and when I think of the remakes, I am put in the mindset of the different types of cameras available today and the color, and all the 'flash' that they did not have in the days of old - and for some reason - the original movies have something grounded and sentimental and true that their remakes will never have. Take "The Birds" for example. Alfred Hitchcock was a genius in putting that horror film together and when the remake was done - there was something different about the relationships and curiosity of the film. I like the originals better.

How about Evil Dead II? It's better than Evil Dead, isn't it?

Got to be about the only one and that is probably because it was exactly the same team remaking it.

Most remakes are pants. Although The Thing is just as good as The Thing from Another Planet!

The 1999 version of the House on Haunted Hill just barely beats out the 60's version. The original ending was just too ambiguous.

Though with today's atmosphere, IF someone can find the screenwriters who can write it just right then Plan 9 From Outer Space would be awesome.

I've got to cast my vote for The Longest Yard.

The original was just OK, but the remake that Adam Sandler did was so good. It could have been the cast he put together, but the script was awesome as well.

None, especially the remake of the Italian Job, that was the worse remake in the history of plagiarism.

Last year's Lassie with Peter O'Toole was better than the original. And the 1997 "The Dog of Flanders(Japanese)" was much better that the 1959 original made in Hollywood.

I don't believe any of them are, they should stop doing remakes and come up with something original. It's exactly the same with pop groups, why can't they write their own songs.

The Departed. Well, OK,I never actually saw the original - but that movie was so excellent, I can't imagine the original being better.
