Please tell us the rest of the story. I can't imagine that a judge would award him custody without cause. What's your story?

well, there has to be more to the story than that, because if a mother loses custody, there is something seriously wrong going on in her life (at least that is what my friend says and she works for the court system).

what proof did the judge have? statements from teachers or day care workers? photographs and emergency room doctor statements? How can you prove that the ex is an abuser?

what you need to do is obviously, get a lawyer. Make sure you're on the straight and narrow. If you lost custody, there was a reason.

Petition the court for a remodification to child custody hearing with a possible change of venue if necessary. Show the new judge any evidence you have supporting your accuations against him like police or medical reports. You would have to have ruled unfit for him to gain custody so you may have to overcome those charges before anything will happen. You say the Judge had that information but may not have had any evidence to support it and he cannot make any kind of ruling based on hearsay. Your main objective is to prove him unfit as a father and then that you have improved your status. Not easy but not impossible. Good luck

I have to agree with the answerer who said you need to give more information. I also dont see a judge giving custody to a father if the judge had actual proof of abuse in front of him. In most cases, the mom usually gets custody, so when they don't there is usually more to the story.

I can't help but wonder why on earth any court would give custody of your children to your ex, if they did indeeed know he was a child abuser. I'm really not intending to be cruel here, but courts don't just give custody to the men like that.. unless the mother's are proven to be unfit. So, I'm wondering what you did that caused them to take your kids away from you like that??

Again, I don't mean to sound cruel.. but I think there has got to be more to this story than you are wanting to tell us.

There must be more to this story it seems out of place for the judge to award him custody if what you tell us is true there must be someone that can go with you to a higher court to verify you claims of him being a child abuser an if true the beatings he would get in jail would be justified all the best in your situation

That seems a little odd. Why would a judge rule in favor of your ex (a documented child abuser) over you? What was his reasons?
I would definitely get a better attorney and fight again for my children.
Something isn't right here.
