I want to know what the law is on this. I think that he is lying and I want to know the truth. Who would let a 20 year old make that kind of decision when he has no kids and he was that young?

I got one right before my 21st birthday. I have no kids. I know another man that got one when he was 20, but he had kids.

As far as I know there are NO laws about the age except that he must be 18. It is up to the doctor or the clinic. Most have age limitation policies due to their personal beliefs or because of liability.

There is no reason to think that he could not have had a vasectomy.

Ok, now let us look at the serious part of this. You say you question his honesty. Then that is an issue in and of its-self. When you have sex with someone you risk your life. That is a fact these days. So, if you feel you can’t trust him, then why have sex with him? Honestly, I don’t understand people today. Nobody would hand their wallet to someone that they just met at the bar, but they would have sex with them. That is pretty stupid if you ask me.

Liar . I don't think that any physician would do a vasectomy on a 20 year old . If for no other reason then to protect themselves from a future lawsuit when that 20 yearold grows up and changes his mind. Check with your state laws , check with the by -laws of the AMA and whatever organization the physician that performed the operation belonged to e.g the American College of Surgeons. Tell your bf to provide names and dates .
Better yet forget get all the stuff I just told you-dump the guy . If he's going to lie to you about something that important to the rest of your life he's a POS and you don't need him in your life.

The LAW in my state is that you must be MARRIED, OVER 25
and TWO Healthy CHILDREN Before a Dr can perform the operation.

Exception is a handicap (which ones I don't know) I think there is also a provision if there is a heriditary problem

You also get a letter that the sterilzation test was complete

A some else said, show the scar

The law varies from state to state, I suspect. You could take birth control measures yourself. But there are other issues:

1) If he had a vascetomy that early, he may have been with a lot of women. You need to use condoms to protect yourself against STDs. Babies are not the only result of unprotected sexual contact.
2) Is he the kind of guy who doesn't want commitment? I would strongly suspect that. Is that okay by you?
3) If you can't trust him on this important issue, I'd say there is a general lack of trust in the relationship. Do you really want to have sex with a man you need to check up on all the time because you can't depend on him to tell the truth?

Be careful -- lots of red flags here. Good luck.

He is lying to you so he won't have to wear a condom. To get a vasectomy you have to be interviewed by a Dr. first. I had my vasectomy at the age of 31, both my wife and I had to convince the doc that we were sure of our decision. also , you can see the scares after 30 years and there will be 2 of them one on each side if the scrotum just below the base of the penis.

He's probably lying. He just wants to have sex without a condom and is trying to get you to let him ejaculate inside you.

You should dump this lying, deceitful loser. Or, look for the scars of the vasectomy surgery. You should be easily able to see either one or two scars on his scrotum from the surgery. Some doctors make two cuts and some choose to only make one incision to get access.

Whatever you do, do not.....DO NOT....have unprotected sex with this person until you are absolutely 100% sure. If he will lie about this, imagine how he will react when you get pregnant. He'll dump you in a heartbeat. Don't fall for it!!!

Ask to see his vasectomy scar. It would be a very faint line, lighter than the rest of his scrotum. Usually over the right hand testicle. Ask him exactly what was done. The tube is either cut and tied back or 1 - 2 cm's are cut off and the ends are cauterized (burned) closed.
Personally, I think he's feeding you a line of male bovine excrement and just wants to get into your pants. If he lies about this, he'll lie about other things, too. Dump him and get a REAL man.
(had a vasectomy in March of '77)

A male can get a vasectomy at any age after they turn 20. There is no legal restrictions.
Most doctors would not do it if he is 20, but there is definitely some who would do it. If you don't want children, use a condom, just to be on the safe side.

There is no law preventing it. 20yrs old is an adult. But I am a guy and I do not believe the vasectomy story. Practice safe sex. Have him wear a condom or take birth control. And the surgery is not 100%. Don't get stuck with a kid if you don't want one

Liar liar pants on fire. Don't believe the guy. No doctor would do a vasectomy on a 20 year old. That is just stupid.

There usually are not any discernible scars after they have healed from that procedure. Ask for a certified statement from the doctor that is supposed to have done the surgery: there is not one!
