do you have to pull the motor to replace the rear main seal?i been told yes and no?

yes you do, that or the transmission,it has the one piece rear main seal in it, the solid round type,i own a repair shop,and have done a lot of these but you have been told right on this one ,it s big job doing one of these though,an an expensive one if you have it done,good luck with it i hope this helps.

the transmission has to be pulled out to replace the rear main seal. the motor does not have to be pulled out.

it is faster to pull the engine and change the rear main seal than pull the trans, transcase and drive line good luck

Double check that your rocker cover gaskets are not leaking, before you go to the trouble of pulling the engine.

Drop the tranny, or pull the engine. your choice.....
