It depends on the size of the theatre (budget wise) and the amount of free space they have for storage (and how large the equipment is), and if they perceive a need for it. Also, if you are thinking would they be willing to pay for it, probably not. Unless they have a specific need for it at the time. Many theatres are non profit though, and if you can find one of those to take something like this for props, then you could count it as a tax deductible donation.
