First of all Sharpton and Jackson didn't bring the Imus story to the media's attention, the media bought the story to their attention. Reports of the Imus incident were aired before Sharpton and Jackson arrived on the scene. Both men are media magnets. Whenever, any type of racial controversy occurs, the media contacts them because it draws more interest and attention to the story. Yahoo even has an alert that you can click on to notify of the latest Sharpton and Jackson stories. The media is always looking to create a frenzy. These men didn't ruin Imus life. Imus ruined his own life. As a result of this actions Imus was originally penalized two weeks without pay by CBS. It was only after sponsors such as GM and Chrysler started pulling their ads Imus was fired. What Imus said was racist and crude and I am glad to see justice finally being served.

Unfortunately, there is truly nothing that can be done to stop them for spreading their ignorance. They are protected from the same right that they took away from Don Imus, that is, Freedom of Speech. Until they actually commitment an illigal act, they will continue to spew their reverse racism. I would've said that once they finally do something stupid, people will see them for the idiots that they are, unfortunately Al Sharpton really messed up on the Tawana Brawley case, but it only seemed to increase his celebrity. It seems like the dumber these guys get, the more of a following they receive. The only thing that CAN be done is to have a voice in the white community who stands up to them when they throw out the race card. Unfortunately, the white community is to afraid to be labeled racists, so I don't necessarily see that happening any time soon.

It's all up to the media. They give them an open mike every time they want to say something no matter how silly it is. The only thing we can do is ignore them. What gets me is that they are not elected to represent anyone. Yet they are bandied around every time as if they were somebody that represents their communities. They actually do a disservice to their own people. Maybe if Obama gets elected president, we won't have to listen to these idiots anymore. Unless Obama puts them in his Cabinet....Ummmm, that's a thought!

Not much. Until people realize these guys have an agenda that is their own and not their people's, that they are just rabble-rousers, not much. But Imus deserved what he got.
