No, but I find putting honey in the table spoon helps me because it coats your throat.

It might - but you might also choke. Try following the medicine with some juice or piece of fruit. Sugar is too heavy and a spoonful is too much. I remember when my mom used to make us drink a half cup of castor oil when we had colds and flu. She would offer us one half of an orange to bite into immediately. It also helped the oil stay down -because we knew if it came up - there would be more waiting.

Yup, Mary Poppins spoke the truth.

It really does. The sweetness of a spoonful of sugar helps get rid of the yucky taste of the medicine. Just like everything else in life. Add a little good of fun, it makes the bad stuff not as bad

The saying is referring to old medicines that tasted nasty, and it was common practise to give caster oil for every thing and to kids, so yes adding sugar made it taste much better, but any thing added can help, but not needed in to days meds as they come in many flavours for kids and in small pills for adults.
The song in Mary Poppins was when she was giving the children Castor oil, and the sugar helped with the taste.
If you have some meds you need to take and are having trouble, try mixing in to foods and drinks, but ask a professional for advise first.

I like sugar, but I think that would make me puke. Not to say that you might not like it. It's a spoonful, dear. Spoonful. That's what your question asks. Spoonful. Spoonful of sugar.

I work in a hospital, in the kitchen, and every other day we send out a couple of dozen little one-ounce containers of applesauce to help with meds. So I'd say that a spoonful of applesauce helps the medicine go down.
