The recent scandal surrounding the Justice Department's firing of several US attorneys has inadvertently revealed the dangerous influence the religious right wields over the current administration. While the media is focused on the political firings of these attorneys, the connection between the administration and Pat Robertson's Regent University -- which has seen over 150 graduates hired by the Bush administration in recent years -- is a more worrisome reality.
In today's New York Times, Paul Krugman acknowledges the danger the religious right poses to our nation. Krugman exposes how these "extremists" have long sought to merge their ideology with government policy, a reality that we understand all too well. He also points out just how little attention this serious threat to democracy has received from mainstream media:
"The infiltration of the federal government by large numbers of people seeking to impose a religious agenda -- which is very different from simply being people of faith -- is one of the most important stories of the last six years. It's also a story that tends to go underreported, perhaps because journalists are afraid of sounding like conspiracy theorists. But this conspiracy is no theory".

Yes it is, but the right is always so sure they are right and everyone else is wrong, they have overlooked one thing. They are the minority of voters in the voters block. The moderate independent is the one that won the last elections for the Democrats. Not the far left or right. We need national referendums on our National Ballots. Let's put the government back into the people's hands.
It is large interests groups and corporations that run this country.

Absolutely !!!! It almost seems like nobody is paying attention while this cancer invades our government and our lives. That's why so many people are here trying to convince others that religion of any kind is dangerous when taken to extreme. While all the Christians are busy telling each other how awful Islam is, their own country is being stolen right out from under them, using their own beliefs to convince them it is a good thing. We need a lot more discussion about this. As Jedi says, we can always have revolution, but first we need to get the good Christians to realize the fact that a Christian-controlled government is not a good thing. By the time they do realize it, we will be in a police state with death to anyone who opposes. Look at Iran & Iraq. Why didn't those people revolt when women were being beheaded in the public square? When all the men were dragged out of their houses and slaughtered? Wake up people. The threat is real.

Odd isn't it; We in the name of the war on terror over threw the Taliban Government, part of the reason being they were running the schools and teaching them the Fundamental Muslim faith.
Here we have the Fundamentalist Christians running the show. Wanting not only to take over the courts but also our schools.

so what you are saying, Is that when someone does something bad, It's there religion that's responsible?
You know, there are extremiest in everything that happens in this world.
There are people who go to the extreme about issues everyday...and they are pagans, buddiest, Agnostic, Atheist, etc....
Take for example...Those children that were molested by a priest...Everyone says its catholics fault and they are bad,
but what about the columbine shootings? Those ATHEIST children who shot kids in the head when they said they believed in God? Maybe ATHEISTS are responsible for all school shootings?
Many of these "religion" wars are not that at all...but over american officials trying to take over their country....
It sounds kind of stupid to place one bad things, That one set of people do, on an entire group of people? Doesnt it?

Are you aware that President Clinton fired over 90 US Attorneys. Many of them were involved in investigations of his and his wife's questionable dealing in Arkansas.
Where was the UPROAR then? There was none because the Republicans understand that US Attorneys can and are hired and fired routinely by the sitting administration. There was nothing illegal then and there is nothing illegal now.
This irrational hatred of President Bush is just that. Irrational hatred.

The "religious right" is way too feared. The Secular progressives had more to do with our Freedom of speech being stopped than the religious right. Imus.
