unless I've met their parents first.

I'm responsible for these kids while they're in my home plus I don't know what food allergies they may have and I'm pretty generous with snacks etc.

Am I being an ogre?

No, I totally agree with what you are doing! I use it myself! Same as I won't let my daughter go to anyone's house unless I meet one or both parents. In the world today, you have to do that as a parent.

Nope you are not an ogre. You are doing what you have to do to protect yourself and your family from all the screw up sue happy people in the world. Some people would do anything for money.

No, not an ogre, but you do need to get out there and meet their parents.

When you're a kid, friends are a big deal.

no your not being an ogre. at least you will let them come over when you have met their parents. it's better that way.
my parents have met my boyfriend and my mom used to be really good friends with my boyfriends mom, but since we've started dating, my mom doesn't talk to her much and she doesn't want us to see each other and she doesn't want him coming over here.
tell your kids to be glad that they can see their friends after their parents have met you, because it can be worse!!!!

far from it.. you could be held responsible for something that is not even your fault, so better safe than sorry.
