I wish you gave more details, but here goes:

You'll be at the university...do you have housing lined up? At school or off-campus?

You'll have to set-up a bank account. Best to get one that has ATM's on campus (or near campus) so you have access to your spending money. Usually banks will let you set up accounts online or though the phone. (I have invested in CD's that way).

Perhaps try to find a mentor at the site (someone already in the graduate program you'll be in?) to guide you in this exact subject: what you'll need and what to expect.

You'll have one heck of a grocery shopping trip once you arrive. You'll need things such as laundry detergent, all your food, if you can cook at your apt or dorm, you'll need cooking supplies like pots & pans, etc.

Also, perhaps you'll want to read via the internet all the local news so you'll get a taste of the local culture at the university and won't be so surprised once you arrive.

Just a few thoughts...I'm sure others will have more.

Best of luck.

Good for you, welcome to the U.S.A. I don't want to scare you, but just be aware that there are some people that are not nice. That goes for anywhere too. They might say mean things to you or look at you because you are from India, do not let this bother you. Ignore them. I hope this doesn't happen but if it does just know to ignore them for your safety. Other than that, GA is a very pretty state. It is hot in the summer, so make sure you stay cool. Housing/living is cheaper than other areas too. I wish you the best!

You'll need appropriate clothing for the weather. Hopefully this site will help prepare you. I would search on various search engines on the internet about this, I assume you're asking about weather?
