It's a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado 6 cyl.. It was driving fine...no problems. then last weekend it just didn't start, didn't make any sounds. So we relpaced the Battery. Then it started fine 2 or 3 times. Then nothing again. We jumped it and it started. But when we got it home it wouldn't start again and nothing. So we replaced the Alt. and still nothing. Where do we go from here?

Make sure battery is charged before you install new alternator. I don't know how many times I have seen people change alternator and still have a dead battery. If you put a dead battery on a new alternator you can damage or ruin it potentially. Check voltage going to the starter and the ignition module. It sounds like you could have a bad cable or ground. Check the distributor cap and rotor for cracks. If you don't have enough power going to your starter and ignition module it will be hard to start. Your starter could be bad so check it too. Check ECM fuses and fuel pump fuses and relays. Good luck.

Well, being as you CAN jump start it, it's got a low battery.

You say you replaced the alternator, but your battery is still dead from before.

If you can get another jump start, drive it for 30 minutes or so to get SOME charge back into the battery.

You MAY want to drive to an auto parts/service place and have the charging system double checked.
You could have blown a fuse under the dash "ALT".

When you replaced the battery, did you clean the battery cable terminals on the inside. (crusty stuff)

you have very almost have been given a clean ninety 5 Jeep Cherokee there. Going by your getting it to start up and run each and every time by moving the distributor, the timing chain is the main probable difficulty. the reason moving the distributor isn't working now's that the valve timing is in simple terms too a techniques off to run, it rather is to be predicted with a stretched timing chain. happy searching.

Sounds like a poor earth connection is causing the battery not to charge.

Or.....

When you turn on the ignition, does the alternator warning light flash up? If not, you've an open circuit - replace the bulb.

This is definitely a long shot, but it happened to me too.I bought one like yours brand new years ago.It began to have no-crank problems, for no apparent reason. After tons of aggravation I discovered that the wire that leads from the battery to the underhood fuse block was not tightened down enough inside the bottom of the fuse container.I think it was an 11mm nut or something close.
