Many people believe that the definition of a normal bowel movement is having 1 movement each day, but that is not true for everyone. There is no rule for frequency of bowel movements, but the general range is from 3 times a day to 3 times a week. Less than 3 movements a week may indicate constipation, and more than 3 watery stools a day could indicate diarrhea.

It is important to have a bowel movement every day. It would not be good to take a laxative because Your mother's body can become dependent on them. It's much better to use a powdered fiber supplement first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. This will keep the intestines flowing naturally. have your mother try this system.

I leave my bowls in the cupboard and only move them to use them at various meals. I dont think they need to be moved in any except maybe for anual cleaning of the cabinets. Why would you need a laxative to do this?
Your mom probably meant bowels. Everyone is different on that one and there is no set rule.

They should move everyday! I would say she is afraid of getting constipated, and I don't blame her. If mine does not move everyday I get constipated.
