Yes I totally agree with you. The whole Don Imus fiasco has certainly shed light on the racial problem that is still alive and well in our society. While we have come far, it has bought to our attention to the fact that we still have a long way to go. Peace and God bless.

There is a smoldering race problem in the US. OJ certainly did not help. The world is laughing? What a joke. The world is so intolerant of others, they are amazed at the tolerance toward all people in the US. Censorship of people and their opinions is the surest way to foment violent reactions. It takes time but when it hits the results can be severe beyond belief. Freedom of speech is one of the strengths in the US. Racist jokes as seen with constant regularity on BET allows everyone to see and understand the tensions one race has toward another. Don Imus is a national treasure and is helping to defuse much of these tensions. The whites know what causes problems for the blacks because of their racist jokes. BUT, the blacks have NO CLUE what is causing tensions among the whites.

I don't think the world is laughing at all because the world is a great big color line where one has freedoms and another wants the same freedoms that the other ones has and it's very easy for someone who hasn't been socially divided because of something as basic as your skin color to not take this thing seriously and as for this race thing it will be around as long as one race ex temps to degrade another to make it self feel more Superior.
personally I think if someone refer to your mother your sister or your daughter in this manor you would sympathizes with the African American race more and not just say brush it under the rug and move on maybe this is the root of the whole problem not talking about the divided line between the races, there is so much misunderstanding and hurting between the races that we can make ignorant comments and think it's ok to do so.

If he were not in the Media, it would not have been any different than a Million other Racist comments that are made every single day. I think it is sad that we all simply cannot get along, but according to History there has always been Divisions among the Races and Cultures and unfortunately it looks like there always will be.

it really baffles me that as long as the united state has had a melting pot of different races and cultures that we all can't except each other for the individuals we are and not what we look like...This world is so diverse and beautiful yet there is still so much hate...If we sit back and look at the big picture we actually are learning and taking experiences from each other unconscienciously, whether it's food, music, language, clothing etc...we all have to adapt, except, embrace and love each other individually at some point and know that just because one person has a different culture or skin color doesn't make him/her the same as everyone else in that group...you have good and bad in every race, religion and culture...we just have to keep an open mind and know that we are all people, if you skin us we all have the same organs, tissues, skeleton and make up to keep us all alive and we all have to die no matter what....yes i did notice it and it's hard to swallow and i only pray it doesn't get worse...i am black, but i have white, hispanic, phillipino and other people from different back grounds as friends...i love them all the same because we are all people who share the same things in common yet bring our differences together and except each other and respect our differences too.....i think once people get past theirselves and look at the big picture and understand it's not about the outter appearance but about what this person is really about, morales, values, characteristics, personality etc. how can i learn from this person and what can they learn from me the world will be a much better place...it's all so sad i pray for peace and love....you are all my brothers and sisters and i love you

Before, I didn't believe that racism was still a big issue. Then I moved to where I live now and people here are still very very racist. It's sad to see that our country hasn't progrussed much further in the race department in some areas, but in other areas we have.

I submit to in suggestions the 1st time I felt this way. i develop into residing in Biloxi whilst a interior of reach radio station started making noise relating to the flag show in Gulfport. They theory it is going to no longer fly the conflict Jack naval flag. the owner stated it develop into hurting people who needed tocontinual by it every day. This resulted in: theft of all the flags; an undesirable/necessary circulate to from David Duke; demonstrations; a guy or woman residing on the flag show; and a wierd vote. This media journey develop into extra to you by the hunt for scores. We have been all questioning what thoughts weren't being lined or hightlighted in this tale.

I am pissed off at the double standard in this country...Blacks like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson feel entitled because of slavery...Well, slavery is over...almost 150 years over...I am NOT a racist...but racism goes both ways, and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are two of the biggest racists in this country...I think the current racial division started when OJ was found not guilty by the mostly Afro-American jury despite DNA, HIS DNA all over the crime scene...

My feeling is that people are far to sensitve. I heard in the middle east that if you show someone the sole of your shoe that it is the worst insult you can give someone and they just might kill you over it. Seems kind of silly doesnt it. Well if you think about it saying bad words to someone is about the same thing. I think its silly imus got fired over a dumb comment and I think that is what drives races apart. I remember my my saying sticks and stones........... How true that is.
