both. ATM is the safest way to bring money along on a trip. But, bring a little cash in case you lose the card or an atm machine eats it, or the bank messes up your account.
If you have a problem with gambling away too much money, then maybe cash would give you a limit. Just make sure you have taxi fare to the airport or a full tank of gas. lol

Take some cash and some checks. You can always cash the check at the hotel/casino. The ATM card can be used as a backup, but why pay the ATM fees when you don't have to. Good luck!

Do not use the ATM! You will go way over what you were expecting to loose. This is like having some one on a diet having chocolate cake dragged across their eyes and telling them to just eat less later.

Take cash. Have a clear amount you will allow yourself to loose and have that as an absolute cut off. Keep $100 on the side to buy drinks, see movies and other cheep things when you run out of money.

Jeff is right. I would just add, use credit cards for food, hotel expenses (rooms), etc.. big items.
Don't know where you from, but if you have Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual account, they are in town and get cash from their ATMs, at their branches which are usually not far from the Strip. NEVER AT THE HOTELS. The fees are a joke. (you lose more on fees than playing Black Jack)

I would bring cash for two reasons:
a) There are no bank ATM's on the strip so you will be forced to take a taxi to an ATM machine, or use the ones in the casino's where you will be charged a lot in extraneous fees.
b) You will have a budget to stick to and won't blow it on 3 card poker or some crap.

Save yourself a lot of trouble and take cash. It's nearly impossible to cash a out-of-state check and even cashiers checks are a hassle. Just use common sense. It's amazing what a rare attribute that is today

Bring your budget in cash. That is what I do. Travellers checks are too much money for what???? A little more security? I don't think so! ATMs charge fees and can make you lose track of what you are spending. I personally keep my cash in my wallet, keep my wallet in my front pocket, and keep my hand in my front pocket over my wallet. Best way for me! Good luck to you whichever method you use, and have fun!

"jeff" gave you some good advice. I will add that some hotels will cash your personal check. >You can always call the hotel you're staying with and ask them if they do and if so, what the limit is< Another option is Bank America, they have five locations "fairly" close to the strip area. >I opened a checking account at the local BA so I could have access to my account in Las Vegas, "just in case"<

A money belt is also a good idea, they are much harder to misplace than a wallet or purse.

I did some of both....next time taking cash only. I think the ATM fees are way too high....they were more than double what they are here in MN.

take cash - the atm's out there charge ridiculous fees. just decide how much you're going to spend each day and stick with it. if you don't like keeping cash in the room, all the hotels have lock boxes available.
