if you can catch it, take it to the pound. if not, get a bag of cat litter, and ask the local animal control to furnish a trap. the cat will use the litter, and be caught in the trap. then have the ac officer come retrieve it.

This may sound cruel, but it really isn't. Bury some plastic forks with the prongs just under the surface of the dirt just here and there,it's causes just enough pain to keep them away but not enough to cause damage

They sell cat and dog repellent at wal-mart for your flower gardens. If that doesn't work you can wait for the cat and spray it with water from the water hose.

Lay down a strip of poultry netting/ chicken wire fence where they've been digging. They won't dig there!
If you want, you can sprinkle it with bark mulch so it looks nicer.

buy some chicken wire and place around beds and top with a layer of mulch. they will get their claws hung when they try to dig or cover and they don't like that.
