Like all art it can either look tacky and amaturish, or beautiful. If graffiti is well done in a good location (i.e. on a factory wall or some otherwise bland or ugly building - rather than a church for instance) then I don't have a problem with it. It's the stupid scrawly tags that ALWAYS look bad that are so awful.
When graffitist art is truly spectacular or witty, like Banksy's for instance, it sometimes even becomes an attraction. Banksy's art in Bristol is very popular, there was outcry when the local council sought to paint over it.
Here's a website with some of his stuff on it http://www.banksy.co.uk/

I'm a graphics illustrator/artist/teacher and some graffiti that I've seen in my time has been an inspiration to even some of my own works...But the only thing I defy about graffiti is when it is done as vandalism to a location outdoors where it's really not meant to be..(like by street punk gangs marking their so-called "territory" or on a building, schools, bridges, Mountain Rocks, churches, etc. ~without an owner's consent...). Otherwise it does add "life" to anything that is of such "drabness" where various sightings are so "plain" and too boring to look at.

Nope.
I HATE graffitis, as they tend to cheapen the look of a place
