1. That sounds like shock. Could be temperature, chlorine or pH. The best way to avoid such a reaction is to dechlorinate the new water, make sure it's very close in temperature to the old water and change the water often. If it's in a bowl, change the water every 2-3 days to prevent this type of situation.

2. For tank of 2 gallons or more you can buy a heater at the aquarium or pet store. Under that size a light close to the bowl during the day will help warm the water.

3. Fin rot looks like a white soft area along the edge of the fin that slowly gets closer and closer to the fishes body as the fin rots away. The line can also appear black depending on the exact cause of the rot and the coloration of the fish affected but otherwise it is always and area of the fin that seems to just disappear or rot away.

one million. A five gallon is superb for one betta. two. They aren't dull. They want a clear out regardless that to thrive. If the water is room temp. the betta shall be much less energetic and die quickly. three. They have pellet type meals for betta's. That and the brine shrimp is a healthful vitamin. four. They are fairly hardy if you recognize what you're doing. Some individuals stuff them in a one million gallon bowl (or much less!) and not using a heater and sweetness why they die. five. Betta decide upon nonetheless water or gradual relocating. A clear out relatively can not be in a small tank with a betta intent the water present can tear the fins leaving it susceptable to fungus and different ilness. With this you're going to do high-quality=) They are notable fish. Most rate $three-five, so appear round for a greater deal...

I'm going to answer the second one. Justso you know, betta fish are tropical. This means that they need to be in a temerature ranging from 78- 80 degrees. You need a heater set to that temp. Next you do need a cover because bettas can jump. I once had one of those incidents and my betta had died, so make sure you have a lid that fits snugly. Now, back to your first question, do you put conditioner into the water before you add it to his tank? Also, do you use tap water? This might cause fish to slow down abit or maybe you get thge water and put it directly into his tank. I fyou do the coldness may slow him down. Let the water sit in the room your betta is in to let it reach room temp. and fin rot is usually started by nipping fins and the bitten parts get infected and the fins grow smaller and shorter untill they are gone. This might cause the fish to have a hard time swimming and balancing. My fish had ths once and it got so bad that the infection got into her and killed her. here are somje pics of fin rot. http://www.fishdeals.com/fish_diseases/fin_rot/finrot.gif

1 i dont know sorry maby hes just setling in 2 new water
2 get a bub for the tank
3white fins are usually fins growing back -- maybe he had fin rot previously? more than likely he is just losing color from being sick. if he is shedding that is fin rot. i have never had fin rot that looked black or brown on a betta. their fins look like kind of wilted lettuce and drop off in bits like when you lose dead dry skin. i would try some antibiotics -- i use maracyn and maracyn2 in combination for fin rot. i think you can keep up the salt with the antibiotics. ich is hard to get rid of -- i keep bettas with ich in bowls w no gravel and vacuum the bottom one day and clean the bowl the next. ich falls to the bottom and reproduces so you need to be able to see it and get it out of there.

this is from another question about fin rot

Question #1: Betas are surface breathers, in the wild they live in puddles. They often do funky things with their gills, don't worry about it!
Question #2: If it's about 65 degrees that's warm enough. For a cover get one of those things that are made of stretchy material, they are good for Betas.
Question#3: Sorry I don't have any pics but it looks like a kind of pale brown spots.
Good luck! My beta Frank is four years old and still going strong!
