My 7 year old daughter has the stomach flu and an absessed tooth. I have no way of getting to the store to get her any gingerale to calm her tummy. I was wondering if anyone on here has some home remedies that you could share with me to help her feel better? She is throwing up and has the potty runs. I would appreciate any help you have to offer us.

No she doesn't have a fever. Yes she is on an antibiotic. I called the doctor already, they said that it isn't the antibiotic because if it was she would have been having this problem sooner than last night. She has been taking it since Monday.

I am keeping her hydrated. Even though it keeps coming up about 20 minutes after she drinks. The doctor says to let it run it's course. I am just trying to figure out how to help her back to comfort.

it's important to keep her hydrated. Dehydration is your biggest risk with the Influenza. No acid fruit juice. Only apple or pear juice diluted 50-50 with water. make Oatmeal with lots of water. drain off the oatmeal and have her drink the water sweetened with some honey.
If she continues The same you need to get her to the emergency room.

Poor darling. My doc recommends that I not give my daughter anything when she is vomiting and going to the toilet - wait until there is nothing for an hour, then I give her some cordial (one part) to tap water (nine parts), but only give her about 10 ml. If she can keep this down for 10 minutes and is still thirsty, give her another 10 ml. Keep on going until she's keeping it down. The BRAT method that a previous poster talked about is very good when she stops vomiting etc. The abcessed tooth sounds bad - do you have medication for that - could this be causing the vomiting? If she doesn't improve, take her to the emergency at hospital or an out of hours doctor, you can't run the risk of dehydration. Good luck.

I would be more worried about and bad infection from the tooth. Does she have a fever? If she does, I would call the Dr or go the urgent care (since it is the weekend)
Sometimes an absess tooth coul lead to an infection in the blood called sepsis and cause flu like symtoms.
I'd call the Dr.

Give her nothing while she is still throwing up. If you give her 4 oz to drink she will expel 6-8oz. So it really is a loosing battle. If she goes a couple of hours with out vomiting then I would try some ice. If she is OK with the ice then I would try some flat soda or crackers. Once she is able to hold this down go w/ a diet of bananas, rice, broth and crackers until her diarrhea stops. Through out this you really need to keep a close eye on her for dehydration.

If she has a stomach virus ginger ale probably isn't going to help much anyway. Letting it run it's course is really all you can do. With the abscessed tooth she needs medical attention. Poor little girl!

Is she taking antibiotics for the abcessed tooth? Could be that is giving her the nausea and diareaha.
Try saltine crackers. 7-up or sport drink (gatorade) if you have it or just water. Keep her from getting dehydrated.

Do you have Kool-Aid? Also, if I remember correctly, there is something called the brat diet
Banana
Rice
a...???? (maybe and?? :)
Tea
Find something that she likes to drink, if you can't get to the store, even sugar water...you don't want her to dehydrate.
Best Wishes to both of you. It is so hard when our little ones aren't well

Pepto-bismol may help to calm the stomach and it may also help to harden the stool.
