Its a tough issue as to what is considered cheating.. i do feel though and this is just my opinion... if you are dating a man and he is getting phone calls from other women often(other than family members) or is going out for "coffee" with other women just as supposed friendship and not offering for you to come along then there is a good chance he is cheating or not sure where he stands with you or what he wants.. so he is looking else where.. i dont know if this answered your question or not . but itll give ya some idea of how it starts...

There are many opinions on this. For all my example I will be using the man cheating on a woman model. Some say going to a strip club is cheating. I think that is ridiculous. Big waste of money - yeah, cheating - no. Going to see a prostitute - yes. Even though no emotional involvement occurs, you are still having sex with another woman and wasting money. The biggest one of all is actually dating someone else while you are in a committed relationship. Having romantic feelings for someone else and acting upon them is definitely cheating!

Cheating does not necessarily have to be sexual. Cheating can be an emotional involvement, or giving someone your number. Its all about intentions and honesty. If you are doing something with someone else that you would not want your significant other to see, then it is probably a form of cheating.

Anything that hurts someone... I don't think it's a black and white issue. Every relationship has different circumstances... If something happens once with another woman and you never know about it, does that hurt you?
I met another woman before and was feeling very excited about it! After 15 years of marriage and 2 kids I thought my wife had pretty much forgotten about me, but when I did meet someone else it just made me really understand how happy I was with what I had!!

If you would be hesitant to go back home to your significant other and tell them everything that you did, it is cheating.
If you would be fine with going and telling them about it, it is [most likely] not cheating.

If you have to ask yourself then you're probably heading towards doing something you mate wouldn't like.
Physical contact, strong emotional bonding are cheating to me. Basically, love relationship building activities.
I suggest people who are trying to honor their mate. Should just avoid temptation. And make the rules before the situation might arise.

Deep down in your heart, you know if you are cheating and you know if you are being cheated on.
If it offends you and you can feel it, you are cheating or being cheated on.

Anything that is make out and beyond. If you love a person, you will think twice before even getting near another person.
