I had a vasectomy Friday 4/13/07 @ 11:00 a.m. I went home and took it easy. I have had absolutely no problems as of yet. Today being Saturday, I was up walking around my 2 kids' ballfield watching their games. I was nervous about the procedure at first, like anyone else , but to tell the truth I'm ready to try it out for the first time. I'm just waiting to be sure that I don't hurt the cauterized parts. Tell your husband that aside from the occasional exceptions to every rule that it is quick with some disscomfort, but really no big deal. I hope this helps.

Do some research on vasectomies and show him. Too many men think by cutting the sperm flow off (not the ejaculate) it will affect their sex life negatively or they won't be able to get erections. Both beliefs are false. I had mine vasectomy in 1977 when I was 30. Best $200 I ever spent. We could make love anytime we wanted without worrying about contraceptives.
As far as the pain goes, I had mine done on a Friday morning, put an ice pack on my crotch (had on my Italian bathing suit), went to a cook out at my in-laws the next day, laid out all day Sunday and went back to my desk job on Monday. I wore snug skivvies until the discomfort went away.

A vasectomy is a safer option than you getting a tubal procedure and risks after the procedure. Perhaps you can remind him of the risks of you getting sterilised compared to the risks of him getting a vasectomy. I don't think many man go into a vasectomy with bells on, but it might help. Of course, ultimately the choice is up to him. It is his body.

Now, I'm not a man, but the few men I've heard from...an ice pack and a few T3s and a vasectomy is no big deal with a short recovery.

Your husband is being a chicken. It hurts a lot less than a tattoo, or a toenail operation.

Getting a vasectomy is a piece of cake. I got mine at age 21. I am 40 now. I have never had one side effect except for one. I don’t have any children!

your hubby's refusal to get one may not neccessarily be related to the procedure itself. Its minor surgery with minimal pain. Guys sometimes think that it may affect their 'manhood'. Like it might make them less of man coz they cant produce kids. I say this from experience. My hubby also refuses to get a vasectomy - no matter how much i try to convince him... Tell him to get over his ego and DO IT!! hehehe

It's a minor surgery. It is an inconvenience for a few days after. Icing the area helps keep the swelling/pain under control, plus a few pain killers.

Some men think this is taking their masculinity away - that may be his real reason.

It's a safe and simple procedure compared to a woman having her tubes tied.

Vasectomies are done in an out-patient procedure and takes only a few minutes. The pain in mild and is the discomfort and lasts just a couple of days, unlike the female version of sterilization. Is he afraid of the surgery itself, or, is it the fear of losing his "manhood"?

A man getting a vasectomy is much LESS paionful and invasive than a woman gettting a tubaligation. And not it is not that bad....he will survive.

Both me and my husband agree that it was the best money he ever spent. Sure he was a bit sore for a day or two but the relief of knowing you are not going to get pregnant again is wonderful.

It's the best thing a guy can do for his partner.
