Don't listen to anyone defending BET...It is a double standard...You are right...If Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson can speak out about Imus, they should speak out against hardcore rap music that is racist and degrading to women...

It's a form of racism, there's really no other way to put it. I've seen some very funny white comedians poke fun at black people and black culture, but in an non-inflammatory way. Someone above me said it... "it is what it is". For whites to get away with it, it has to be sharp, and witty. Blacks can still go for the cheap laugh, for now.

Give Black people a break. It is always OK for the underdog to go after the top dog, even if it is a double standard.
That said, they should never have gone after Imus. He was a great friend of the black people.
I think that Al and Jesse and others just reacted as they always do, and the whole thing just got away from them and took on a life of its own.
Al didn't mean Imus no harm. Al is just in the self-promotion business and he had to jump on this business opportunity like any other.
If Al and Jesse could talk honestly to Don Imus, they would say, "Sorry Don. It's just business. Nothing personal. Actually, Don, we like you and your show, but we have to keep the money coming in and the only way to do that is keep our own faces on TV. Sorry. Good luck. Tell your wife congrats on her new book."
But in business, especially one as public as the Al and Jesse business, you never get the opportunity to be that candid. But Imus knows those guys don't have it in for him personally.

Al and Jesse and the rest of the black hypocrites would like to start a race war. Easy to do. Just censor people until it blows sky high. Free speech is the only way to avoid it. If people can't rant and vent, they will quietly follow dangerous demagogues. Islalmo-facsists are a good example of this as were the Nazi Germans.

If this incident is the beginning of more civility and less foul language in public, I will be glad.
CBS is hypocritical about this, jumping all over Imus but making no attempt to reform MTV.

I think BET is another form of separation.
However, if you don't like it do something about it. Perhaps you can have them toss off ....
Racism against whites is accepted because many whites do nothing but sit back and laugh, think it's no big deal, or complain here..
Don't blame minorites, blame yourself

what is most amusing about what you speak of is how when most commedians make fun of white people, they do that talk with intelligence voice... so to me its a back slap, as if there was ever anything wrong with intelligence.

Because white people have a far better sense of humor than black people. Blacks do not have the ability to laugh at themselves. Whites love making fun of themselves, and when a black person makes fun of us, it assuages our sense of guilt.
