I have cable Roadrunner and mine shows strong signal too, But if your drivers are not present, you wont be able to get online. You need to install the drivers for your modem.

Is your connection cable, modem, or wireless? This helps in the answer. Other than that, I can't really help you.

You can have a really strong network and not get on if it is protected.

Assuming that the connection is wireless, I'd want to know what kind of wireless application you're using to connect. I don't know about your computer/laptop that you're using, but some have applications that you use to check to see whether the signal is open or protected with a WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) which is a security key that you would have to know the password to use the network.

Are you on your wireless network, or somebody elses? You have to choose the wireless network from a list using Windows Zero Configuration wireless manager. Go to Start | Settings and click on Network Connections. Open wireless connection and see if your wireless network is listed, then select connect to network. You didn't say if it was your neighbor's wireless or if you had your own router setup. Sometime it's confusing because all available wrieles networks will show but you won't be able to connect to most of them. That's why you should always give your SSID a meaningful name... so you know that's the one you need. Hope I helped. Make sure that your drivers are installed for your wirelss adapter. Windows will not install drivers for some, like Netgear or Linksys. They have there own CDs.

Having an Internet connection it's not enough. You have to configure your computer to work with that connection. This is done in different ways, depending on the connection you have, so contact your ISP for exact details.

Do this Katie:

1. Unplug the power on your internet modem
2. Unplug the power on your router
3. Shut down your computer
4. After 1 minute restore power to your modem
5. Wait until all the lights have stabilized
6. Restore power to your router
7. Wait until the lights stabilize
8. Power up your computer.
