Only the first testament asks for circumcision; the second testament has pretty harsh words on it. (In Galatians)

Indeed you're right.

If uncircumcised (most guys in the world are... Europe, Latin America, Asia, and increasingly North America with Canada below 10% circumcision rates and in the USA the west coast is majority uncircumcised now for newborns) you just pull the foreskin back and rub the head when you shower.

I've never had any problem with hygiene and I'm uncircumcised. Nothing grows there, unless you don't wash for like a week, but then again, women can also get smegma. After all, it only takes a few seconds to do and feels good (after all, you're rubbing the head, hahaha).

When erect/hard they look alike, though, since the foreskin slides back.

To respond to the post below, as far as AIDS/HIV claims go, the WHO recommended it in Africa, where hygiene and HIV is a problem. Africa = high risk.

Here in developed nations, the USA, with the highest circumcision rates in the developed world, has the highest HIV rates. Where as Europe, with the lowest circumcision rates in the world, also has the lowest HIV rates.

"One of the few who don't experience problems"... don't you think that if that were true, Europeans, Latin Americans, and Asians would all be getting circumcised? In fact, if anything, the circumcision rates where it used to be popular (USA, Canada) are falling. Canada's rates are now below 10% and in the USA some states have reached 14%. Statistics links sourced from the government are in the link below.

A circumcised penis is thought to have better hygiene because there's no skin covering the glans, so it's "easier" to clean. At the same time, it's also more exposed to the environment and along the same logic, can become dirty easier.

In the vast majority of cases (like ~95%) one can pull back the foreskin and clean underneath very easily. Contrary to the beliefs of many, this is very easy to do and is no hassle. In the US where the foreskin was largely absent for several generations, people "forgot" how to clean it and began to think it was difficult or could cause problems if not cut off - it became a taboo of sorts.

Again, this isn't true. If one knows what to do, it's very easy to clean and keep clean (see link 1). Also, cases where the foreskin makes hygiene difficult are uncommon and in most cases, easily treatable without needing circumcision (see links 2 and 3). So, a circumcisied penis doesn't inherently have better hygiene, nor does is an uncircumcised penis inherently less hygienic - it very much depends on the guy's overall hygiene.

You can just pull back and clean it, but that has the unfortunate side affect of feeling good.

Wait, why is that a problem. Oh I remember. They thought it would cause masturbation. That's why some countries, most notably the US, introduced neonatal circumcision for non-religious reasons.

A few decades later, when they realized masturbation wasn't a problem, they started doing it for 'hygiene'.

I may be wrong on this, but is anyone aware of a country that did NOT circumcise to prevent masturbation that DID start doing it later for hygiene? Because I'm not, which kind of suggests that the arguments for hygiene weren't very convincing unless you were allready doing it to deter masturbation.

Of course, doctors say it, it becomes taken as fact. So plenty of american women are convinced now that an uncircumcised penis is filthy (its probably easier to clean then women's genitals).

Kaylee sort of has a point you know. Circumcision just isn't that common anymore, and in reality no, its not any cleaner than an uncircumcised penis. Your reason isn't a good enough reason to get circumcised. Really there is no reason good enough to get circumcised. If you were born with a foreskin, be glad! Some(me) will never get the chance to have one because our parents were idiots who think "they know whats best for us", they don't know ****!! All I can say is thank god for this little thing called Foreskin Restoration, it may not be the same as having an actual foreskin but its still better than not having one.

This is not a hygiene issue, except in the heads of a few women - and what do they know!

The American Medical Association, the American Association of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization - all agree that routine circumcision is unnecessary, and that there are no hygiene issues related to foreskin.

To answer an earlier post, NO, the WHO does NOT recommend it for all men - read the research. What their study shows is that in men who have UNPROTECTED sex with an HIV+ person, there is a 50% higher chance of transmission of HIV. These days, ANY man who has unprotected sex with a stranger is an idiot. And who wants odds of 50% anyway?

You just pull it back, wash the whole penis in the shower each morning, and then dry off well. That's it.

85% of men in the world are intact, and do not have hygiene problems!

Ladies - answer questions about women's genitalia by all means, but until you grow a penis, shut up about our hygiene and our foreskins!

Bacteria collects inside the foreskin and has to be cleaned thoroughly every day. Make sure you wash with soap and water and start using a penis health creme that contains Vitamin A every day as well. Vitamin A has anti-bacterial qualities that will help keep the area clean and odor-free. These cremes have other health benefits as well. Really good stuff.

you could just pull the foreskin back to clean. but your question why is circumcised better hygenie. well pulling back the foreskin to wash 2 or 3 times a day will obviously never be as clean as being exposed 24/7.

Good answer Terry!
Remember that the foreskin is in itself a sexual organ full of tactile nerve endings and it is criminal to remove it, whatever anyone says. No parent has the right to inflict this loss on his or her sons. The old testament required circumcision because sand used to enter beneath the foreskin and cause irritation resulting in cancer.

If you wash it it's clean, whether you are intact or circumcised. If you don't wash it, it's not clean, whether you are intact or circumcised. If you are intact, it takes maybe 5 seconds longer. Very big deal. If you wash, there never be any smegma. The "hygiene" argument for mutilating penises is total garbage! (Like all the other arguments for this barbaric practice.)

In most cases you can. If you have to clean up in the back end, it will not always be totally cleaned.
