I really love comics and graphic novels like The Spirit, Batman and Frank Miller's Sin City, but my drawing skills are not that great, but I love writing about superheroes and creating new anti-heroes and was thinking of creating my own series about my own character(s). So I was wondering if any one has created there own super hero novels with just using words?

Many professional artists begin their characters as stick drawings.

If it would help you place your wording onto a panel, that way then don't worry about your artwork. An artist can clean it up later.

Look how many paperback books out there (if you don't want to draw even stick figures).

I have paperbacks of Doc Savage, The Shadow, Superman, etc. There are no drawings in there, but the story gets through loud and clear.

Roger Stern, Elliot S Maggin and George Lowther have all written novels about Superman. You can see them on line at Superman Through the Ages. I’ve read the ones by Maggin (paperbacks) and they were not illustrated. I get the impression that there were serious things he wanted to say about Superman which would not be said in comic book format.

So, it CAN be done. Go write. Write, write, write. Get experience as a writer. Then approach some publishers. Good luck!

I have wrote some fan fiction (non-English) about Batman.
I am working on an English one, but I have a serious language problem. hehe.
I have thought about creating a female character myself in Batman's story line.
