I am happy about who I am. Gay and happy. Sometimes I see my gay friends being just as mean to straight people and people of different ethnic origins as they can be to us. I don't think that this will build bridges between gays and the straight community. And even worse, I think it makes our situation harder. What do you think?

My best friend in High school came out to me in our Sophmore year...and over the next three years I slowly saw him get bitter, and angry over the fact that I was straight. He strarted calling me "breeder", and just being very hurtful. After talking with him and just getting sick of answers like," So? You are. Why should I call you anything different?" I had had it. It doesn't help. Ever. I understand that this is a "straight" society and it is sometimes hard to find someone, especiailly when you are younger, to look up to that is similar to you...but I have a ot of gay friends and only a few of the people that I work with seem to be discriminatory...but I can tell you they are miserable people, they aren't liked by anyone much, and I think it stems out of that, and just as it is for me to not want to hang around a bigot who starts handing out that hatred, I know the majority of the guys I hang out with are the same...So no long story longer it doesn't serve them any good purpose.

Gays do seem a bit angry. My big thing with gays is why do you have such a baby when someone says it's immoral? I smoke 2-3 joints every day..done so for 35 years. I don't think its that wrong but it is clearly immoral by todays standards. In fact I must stay in the closet about it. I would love to walk down the street with a joint in my mouth as I am sure you would like to hold your partners hand. We are both immoral. Not bad. Before all of the anti weed people jump on me. I am college educated. A businessman, married for 29 years. I sent three kids to college and I vote. I am a volunteer for breast cancer and boy scouts. I do love oreos and milk though.

I dont think Gay or straight people should discriminate against each other. Everyone should understand that you can not choose your sexual orientation. I am straight but I have nothing against gay people. I hate when people say its wrong & unnatural. It might be if there were only 10 or so on this earth but there are millions. God meant for gay people to be here. peace xxx

Gays and straights should just get along- after all what difference is it to anyone what you get up to in your bedroom.

i understand why gays are nasty to ethnic minorities though. The gay community has a history of helping ethnic minorities but just get it thrown back in their face. Ethnic Minorities hate gays and rather all gays die.

I think that many people, gay or straight, have to put others down to gain some feeling of superiority. In reality, it is a natural reaction to feeling inadequate about one's self.

You have to remember that you are dealing with human nature. Some people are discriminatory - straight or gay. Also, like black racists, they probably learned from their oppressors.

Well Gay people are still human and for some reason humans are generally fearful of differences. Fear creates discrimination. As mankind ages we slowly become less afraid.

i've lived in a San Francisco frame of mind for a long time, we need to respect others but also demand respect from them------we need to stop/enforce The neocon Right from broadcasting hate & making Hate laws against gays, if Imus can't do it, the GOP shouldn't either, hold them to a higher moral law, that's what they say they do, Wrong

It's a bit like someone lambasting someone because they are a Republican, yet support gay rights. Hypocrisy, thy name is Ashley (most people here will know of whom I speak, and will agree) And Roseanne. And a few other people, but mostly those two.
